Active Isolated Stretching.

Who is it for?  Anyone who wishes to improve circulation and flexibility; anyone who has chronically tight muscles, anyone who has muscle imbalances associated with functional scoliosis.

What does it do?  Improves flexibility and circulation via isolated stretching techniques performed on each muscle.  Each stretch addresses active and passive ranges of motion, and the increase in range of motion is achieved mainly via increased blood flow to the muscle and increased oxygen delivery to the muscle tissues.

How is it performed?  Each stretch is performed with deep inhalation and exhalation with the assistance of a resistance band and/or a person assisting in the stretch.  The lower extremity stretches are always performed first, and the upper extremity stretches afterwards.

Attendees should wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga or exercise mat with them if at all possible
