Raw Vegan Diet Sustained

I just wanted to congratulate you on what appears to be your super-human efforts at spreading the message.

About a year and a half ago I finally managed to sustain a predominantly raw vegan diet after an earlier attempt about four or five years ago.

I'd first heard of eating unprocessed, unrefined organic uncooked foods almost 10 years ago, but wasn't ready. The vegetarian part has been easy, since that was how I have been for about 20 years and vegan for about 15 years, and have been eating organic foods even before that! However, going to mostly raw foods was the hard part for me!

It wasn't until I got sick about two years ago that I had to search deeply within myself for the answer and I realized what I had known all along. Even while sick I managed to do almost nothing but juice, juice, juice, before which I did a 10 day water only fast. That was hard, but easy!? My only consolation to being so self-restrictive, was the first two or three pain killers I'd taken in over twenty years, just so I could get some sleep. It was interesting to find that mere paracetamol which is supposed to last only 4 hours lasted 8 and 12 hours for me!

So, I eventually recovered over a year ago (after having some symptoms for approximately 9 months), and with raw vegan foods my general health has never been better! I've lost almost 10Kg (22 lbs) and a couple of pant sizes and I didn't even realise I was fat!

My skin is softer (velvety even), tighter, and has a healthier hue. My muscle tone is effortlessly almost ripped---I really should do some exercise! I and my poo generally don't smell, unless I visit the relatives! Sleep comes faster and is more refreshing. My senses are far more alive with colours being more intense and physical sensations more subtle. And my mood is generally better too. On top of which I have more energy as well. Quite a revelation!

I had assumed that no-one else would be interested in my extremism and essentially knew no other vegans for well over 10 years, though I'd met a handful a bit later, essentially was alone. I didn't realise that I wasn't actually being so extreme, nor that it would not be of interest to others. I momentarily regret not being more vocal and active in pursuing this as being an acceptable choice for others over ten years ago!

So thanks!
Sincerely,
TH

Dr. T's Comment: We all had to go through the same path, TH. First, we did not believe it exists (Raw Veganism). Then we did not believe it was possible. Then we tried and could not handle the addictions. Then we tried again (out of conviction or out of severe illness) and finally realized what our immune system should do for us, what energy our metabolism can manufacture for us, and what clarity our brain can provide us, when we provide the body with the correct, pure fuel!

As to the paracetamol (pain killers), please be aware that many people have a deficiency in the production of liver enzymes that are specifically adapted to removing paracetamol from the body. These people will have significant elevations of paracetamol in their body comparing with average individuals, whenever they use such drugs. Therefore, they should be exceptionally cautious about their use, to avoid significant liver damage and/or kidney damage, and to avoid accumulation of other toxins from the environment as a result of the liver being excessively occupied. Thus, you are lucky that you have almost never used these drugs- most people only find out about their genetic weaknesses the hard way, when it's too late. Thank you for your inspiring story.
