Asthma
Triggers and Electrical / EMF Pollution,
Many Thanks
In the last newsletter, we asked: "If you would like to help others improve their health and learn about eco-friendly living, email this letter to a friend". So, here are the questions of "Joan", who got this newsletter from a caring friend :
Read the answer - Asthma Triggers and Electrical / EMF Pollution"Thank you SO MUCH for sending this,
WOW~~I'd NEVER HEARD of Dr. T nor was I aware of all he's been trying to accomplish there and I am VERY GLAD to hear of this forward movement [regarding EMF Pollution] from a man of his credentials HERE IN AMERICA AT LAST!!! I am just starting to read his website (www.EMFpollution.com) and it is INCREDIBLY INFORMATIVE!! Glad to hear about this BEFORE my annual Dr appt which is THIS THURSDAY!!! All sorts of tests I could ask for that may reveal toxicities, etc for me!
Have you heard anything in particular about how frequencies affect ASTHMA and inability to get a full breath? I just started suffering from this again and it started immediately when the US went on higher alert in response to Bin Laden's recent tape threat! I feel quite sure they are somehow related as I live close to the M. airport and there is also an Air Force Base there as well! What do you know about what frequencies they send out in "high alert" and how this may be affecting my ability to breathe properly??
Thanks for this INCREDIBLE INFO!

Raw Food - Ideal % for your Child's Health
I bet you get this question alot, how much raw food do "you" eat a day and what do you recommend the percentage young children should have?
I have noticed quite a difference in my child compared to others (tantroms, illnesses, appearance) that eats organic mostly, chicken is the only animal product she eats. Never gets sick, if she picks up a runny nose its gone in a day. And very well behaved. People say luck, I say diet and upbringing. What percentage of raw would be ideal for children under 5? She eats your foods there! Thank you for providing a great service to MN!

Healthy Eating During Pregnancy
Hello - do you offer any resources, literature, counselling on staying raw during our pregnancy and during the birth? We are about 1 month pregnant and are having trouble finding info on this.
Thank you for what you do.

Raw Food - Monitoring Your Health
Dear "Lorie", when you first started on the 100% raw diet, did you consult with a physician and got blood work done to make sure you're on the right track? H. told me briefly about the muscle test and we did read about it online. K. and I would like to know how to monitor our health. We had blood work done in 10/05 and took a Reams Test a few months ago. Both indicated we're in good health. Do you think it's necessary to take another test after being raw for three weeks to see if there's any changes or is it too soon? Can you please ask Dr. T?

Natural Skin-Mole Removal
I have a mole on my face (near my nose) since I was born. It has not changed, but it sometimes itches. Is there any risk involved with keeping it? I don't particularly like it, and others have commented on it occasionally or just stared at it...Read the answer - Natural skin-mole removel

2. March's Articles
Don't read these articles, if you are not concerned about cancer, heart problems, and chronic, degenerative disease related to preventable environmental factors!
A. 3M Chemical Contamination Widespread in Minnesota
A recent article (Monday, February 27, 2006) has uncovered the devastating long-term effects of industrial pollutants on the environment and on animals living in it, including the impact on human health
3M Chemical Contamination Widespread in Minnesota
|
Dr. T's Remark:
The important lesson is that no one is immune, not even the polluters themselves! In every corner of our world, people are becoming bio-concentrators of poisons, as they accumulate these toxins in their tissues over time, especially if they eat flesh (any animal tissue, including fish and birds), where such poisons can be concentrated millions of times more than they are in the environment!
Everybody should consider a toxicological evaluation, a genetic (genomic) risk assessment (each one of us detoxifies pollutants differently because of genetic variations), and a high-quality detoxification program that will safely support the liver, kidneys, and gut cells in performing this important task of clearing toxic compounds from our body.
Unfortunately, these pollutants will ultimately have no choice but to return to the environment, where they will be taken in by living organisms and again go up the food chain into unsuspecting humans who choose to eat animal flesh... and the cycle of disease continues...
B. Cordless Phone Banned
Mobile phones radiation: With the widespread use of new cordless and mobile equipment - Are your children safe? Is the use of WiFi and cordless phones safer then the use of cellular phones?
Attached is a directive from the director of the Salzburg Health Department, forbidding use of WiFi and cordless phones (DECT) in schools.
Doctor T's Remark:
DECT, Digital Enhanced (formerly, European) Cordless Telecommunications, is an ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) standard for digital portable (cordless) phones, commonly used for domestic or corporate purposes. DECT can also be used for wireless data transfers. DECT (like GSM) is a cellular system.
A major difference between the GSM and DECT systems is the cell radius — DECT cells have a radius of 25 to 100 meters, while GSM cells are 2 to 10 km. These cordless phones have been in home-and-office use for many years, but in recent years they became digitally enhanced, leading to a more-dangerous, irregularly-pulsed signal. They transmit continuously at full power while in use (cell phones lower their power once connected), and broadcast high-frequency energy 24 hours a day.
I urge the readers to switch back to the old phones that are connected to the phone company's land lines and are not connected to the outlets. There are some nice models (with caller ID!) that can be available in emergency situation even while there's a power outage!

1. Speaking up for Animals and The Witness Speaking up For Animals: A Keynote Address by PETA President Ingrid Newkirk (28 minutes);
PETA president Ingrid Newkirk talks about what's really in a hot dog and all about the veal-milk connection, exposes America's real terrorists, and discusses why it is more important now than ever before to extend our compassion to "the least of them." A persuasive speaker who has been invited to speak all over the world, Newkirk's mixture of wry humor, wit, and poignant descriptions of animal suffering can move even the hardest hearts. Listen to this with your family and friends and you might change their lives forever.2. The Witness, A Tribe of Heart documentary (43 minutes);
How does a construction contractor from a tough Brooklyn neighborhood become an impassioned animal advocate? In the award-winning documentary THE WITNESS, Eddie Lama explains how he feared and avoided animals for most of his life, until the love of a kitten opened his heart, inspiring him to rescue abandoned animals and bring his message of compassion to the streets of New York. With humor and sincerity, Eddie tells the story of his remarkable change in consciousness.THE WITNESS has been an official selection in 28 film festivals and received nine awards, including six Best Documentary awards, one Best of Festival award, and most recently, a Best Short Film award from the 2005 Artivist Film Festival in Hollywood, CA. "THE WITNESS is one man’s truth that cries out for mass exposure… may be the most important and persuasive film about animals ever made.” ~ Howard Rosenberg, Los Angeles Times
6:30pm, Tuesday, March 28: (90 minutes)
Eating by Michael Anderson featuring Dr. Ruth Heidrich; This stunning video uncovers many facts that the meat and dairy industries do not want you to know: that their products are the biggest cause of disease, disability, and death in the U.S. today. Michael Anderson not only answers basic questions about how easily protein and calcium needs can be met on a vegan diet and the link between diet and America's biggest diseases, he also goes a step further, explaining how the typical American diet is destroying our environment and exposing factory farms as "concentration camps" for animals.
"Brilliant!" Neal Barnard, M.D. author of Breaking the Food Seduction
"Mind-blowing!" Joel Fuhrman, M.D., author of Eat To Live
"Thank you. You've done us all a major service." John Robbins, author of "Diet For a New America" and "The Food Revolution".
6:30pm, Tuesday, April 11th: McLibel (85 minutes);
McLibel is the true story of a postman and a gardener who took on McDonald's and wouldn't say "McSorry," in a legal battle since described as "the biggest corporate PR disaster in history".
McDonald's loved using the UK's libel laws to suppress criticism. Major media organizations like the BBC and The Sun had crumbled and apologized. But then McDonald's sued penniless activists' Helen Steel and Dave Morris.
In what became the longest trial in English legal history, the "McLibel 2" represented themselves against McDonald's USD$19 million legal team. Every aspect of the corporation's business was cross-examined: from junk food and McJobs, to animal cruelty, environmental damage and the company's advertising to children.
Filmed over ten years by no-budget Director Franny Armstrong (Drowned Out), McLibel features reenactments of key courtroom scenes directed by Ken Loach. McLibel is not (just) about hamburgers. It is about the power multinational corporations wield over our everyday lives and two unlikely heroes who are changing McWorld. For more information, visit the website: Mclibelthemovie.com
Films will be show at Ecopolitan Restaurant, south of The Wedge grocery store on Lyndale Avenue. Please arrive by 6:15pm. Film starts promptly at 6:30pm. For more information contact Jane Kathryn Kolles at artistandactivist at yahoo dot com.

6.3 Special Movie Preview - Celestine Prophecy
(Friday, April 14, 1:00 PM, Ecopolitan's Lecture Room)
Ecopolitan is pleased to announce a special preview of the feature film The Celestine Prophecy based on James Redfield's worldwide best-selling novel.
Using an approach that that is part adventure tale, part parable, and imbued with intriguing and soul stirring music, the film tells the story of John Woodson, whose life is at a crossroads. He is about to experience a dramatic and profound metamorphosis. Through a mysterious set of coincidences, he finds himself on an adventure to Peru in search of ancient scrolls, known as the Celestine prophecy. Resistant at first, skeptical and unsure, John finds that with every step he takes, each person he encounters leads him to a new understanding. It is only in this letting go to a higher consciousness that he uncovers life's true purpose and his own destiny.
"If we pay attention, we can find a greater life, no matter where we are, no matter who we are, no matter what our circumstances are. If you tune into the mysterious coincidences in your life, if you discover and then follow your intuitions, you will find that there's a door of opportunity for a greater life for you. You can't be a victim and do it, but if you go beyond that, if you find a way out of what ever circumstance you are in, what ever block you think you might face, what happens is that it works. It always works. The only thing that holds any of us back is not believing that it works."
~ James Redfield"42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot" - Author Unknown
6.4. Breast Thermography at Ecopolitan Building
(Monday, March 6, between 9:00 - 10:00 AM and 2 PM, and then the first Monday of each month, in the same hours).Breast Thermography, Also Known As Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI)- is available at the Ecopolitan Building.
DITI is a radiation free, contact free, non invasive (symptom-free), state of the art clinical screening test recommended for women of all ages. This test is part of an early breast disease detection program that provides women an opportunity to greatly increase their chances of addressing early stages of cancer and other breast disease. Unlike conventional mammography, DITI is completely safe for pregnant women, women with breast implants, and dense or sensitive breasts, since there is no contact with or compression of the breast. DITI has been recognized as a viable diagnostic tool since 1987 by the AMA Council on Scientific affairs and the ACA Council on Diagnostic Imaging, since 1988 by the Congress of Neuro-Surgeons, and since 1990 by the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
The screening at Ecopolitan (the ONLY MODERN DITI currently available in the Twin Cities that is interpreted by a Board-Certified Radiologist) includes a full thermographic imaging examination and color images, interpretation of the non-breast tissue findings by a Certified Thermographer, and medical interpretation by a board-certified medical radiologist.
The new Thermographer is Valerie Zumbusch. Her number for technical questions is (612) 741-3954 and her email address is vzumbusc at amfam.com.
To schedule, call Joe (of Ecopolitan and of the FDH Foundation) at 612-870-2974. More information on radiation free breast screening.
7. Eco-Business of the Month
Occasionally we promote businesses that are eco-friendly (using biodegradable, non-toxic cleaning materials, laundry detergents, recycled goods and other safe supplies, or moving in that direction by implementing environmentally-conscious policies). We hope that many businesses will follow suit and we will gladly promote them in future newsletters, encouraging our readers to support their efforts and helping them make these often-costly activities a worthwhile investment in their business and in our planet's future. If you feel that your business qualifies, please let us know.
This month's Eco-Business is Mind & Body Oasis.
