1. July's Article: Optimizing Babies' and Mothers' Health During Pregnancy.

Wellness begins in the womb, and an embryo's health depends on the toxicity and nutritional status of the mother. Therefore, avoidance of toxins, harmful electromagnetic fields (especially deep-penetrating, high-frequency radio and microwaves, to which babies and children are far more sensitive than adults are), and severe emotional strain, while focusing on a nutrient-dense diet are extremely important.

2. What's New at Ecopolitan

  • August 21, 2005 (tentative date): "The Ecopolitan Trike Drive:" The World's first combined effort towards accomplishing a lofty (yet critical) ecological goal: To prove to urban and rural dwellers that there is a way to commute (without an internal combustion engine, and without polluting as well as depleting the Earth's various fuels) - utilizing extremely comfortable, efficient, and fast recumbent tricycles! These machines have been upgraded lately to become even safer, smoother-riding, and are so easy to propel that even out-of-shape cane-users can use them riding difficult up-and-down slopes!
  •  Ecopolitan will sponsor several of these "trikes," having them ride in a circular path throughout the busiest parts of town with appropriate signage,  to create a good demonstration of their safety, speed, fun, and ability to merge within regular traffic (so that ultimately there will BE no other traffic, well, almost...).
  • June 2005  Raw Beauty Eco-Spa and The Minneapolis Eco-Hostel both enjoyed well-attended and successful openings in the Ecopolitan building.
  • June 2005 Expanding the Ecopolitan's dehydration space to meet increasing demand for our "addictive" dehydrated goods!
  • New Monthly Potluck and Support Group, on the last Sunday of every month at 5:30 PM!
  • Weekday Lunch Discount: We are now offering a new "Lunch Combo" of a meal and a smoothie for $9.25 for patrons who visit weekdays 11am-3pm.  Meal options include a slice of Savory Pie, Lasagne or any Pizza, a Custom Salad, Bowl of Soup or Appetizer paired any Smoothie or Coconut Drink.  This makes for up to a discount of $3.75!
  • We have expanded our selection of bulk nuts, seeds and dried fruits, offering Raw, Organic Cashews, Walnuts, Pistachios, Brazil Nuts, Filberts, Macademia Nuts, Pine Nuts, Almonds, Dried Blueberries, Cherries, Mango, Golden Raisins, Medjool Dates, Sun Dried Tomatoes, Wild Rice, Quinoa, Garbonzos, Rye, Buckwheat and more!
  • "Ask Dr. T" CD  (from Ecopolitan lecture series): The first edition, "Should We Cook Our Food?, an informative 2-Hour double CD is now available for purchase. It discusses the effects of exposing our food to heat in a completely scientific manner (crucial, unique data for anyone seeking a healthy nutritional lifestyle)!  To hear an MP3 of the lecture visit www.ecopolitan.com/cook.
  • There is is an added benefit for people with wire-less laptops and mobile internet devices: The Ecopolitan is a wireless communication "hotspot" - you can sit anywhere in the restaurant and access your email and the internet on your own laptop using your own email software.
  • Ecopolitan and Dr. T are assisting River Hayven (an Eco-Community in a beautiful area north of Menomenie, Wisconsin) in creating a new Raw Food
  • HEALING Retreat, The Ecopolitan Country Spa! The Retreat will be using Ecopolitan's recipes and ideas, and will be the only one of its kind in the Midwest.

8. Breast Thermography, Also Known As Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI)-

Available at the Ecopolitan Building Thursday, August 4th, 10am-6pm

DITI is a radiation free, contact free, non invasive (symptom-free), state of the art clinical screening test recommended for women of all ages. This test is part of an early breast disease detection program that provides women an opportunity to greatly increase their chances of addressing early stages of cancer and other breast disease. Unlike conventional mammography, DITI is completely safe for pregnant women, women with breast implants, and dense or sensitive breasts, since there is no contact with or compression of the breast. DITI has been recognized as a viable diagnostic tool since 1987 by the AMA Council on Scientific affairs and the ACA Council on Diagnostic Imaging, since 1988 by the Congress of Neuro-Surgeons, and since 1990 by the American Academy of Physical Medicine and  Rehabilitation.

The screening at Ecopolitan (the ONLY MODERN DITI currently available in the Twin Cities that is interpreted by a Board-Certified Radiologist) includes a full thermographic imaging examination and color images, interpretation of the non-breast tissue findings by a Certified Thermographer, and medical
interpretation by a board-certified medical radiologist.

To schedule, call Joe (of Ecopolitan and of the FDH Foundation) at 612-870-2974.
