I have been significantly overweight most of my adult life and at one time or another tried just about every diet out there. On some of them, I would lose 20 pounds or so and then it would be too hard to keep up the diet.
This all changed less than months ago, when I began to eat mostly raw - vegan foods, with Dr. T's encouragement. The difference this time is that this is not a diet; it is a way of life. Never do I feel deprived because I have found replacements for some of my favorite foods and have not missed the rest.
As of this writing, I have lost 70 pounds. During this time, I have gone through several plateaus and come out the other side successfully, and will continue to do so. No matter how slow or fast the weight comes off though, one thing that will stay the same is how great I feel for changing my lifestyle.
My energy level and general feeling of wellness have increased to a level I have not felt in years. An unexpected benefit has been relief from the severe menstrual problems (excruciating, paralyzing cramps, heavy bleeding, etc.) from which I suffered during the last several years.
Those problems disappeared when I stopped eating meat and dairy products and focused on unprocessed plant-based foods. Even though there is still so much for me to learn, I am looking forward to the future, feeling healthier and happier about my food choices.
